- In 2003, my wife Tabithia and I left our city home and embarked on an unexpected journey. Both of us have fulltime jobs outside of the home. When the work day is over we return home and begin working again. We have around 100 animals here. Many of which are owner surrendered or rescued. This 4 +/- acres of land that we call Fair Haven Farms is a little piece of heaven. Not everything is always grand, but we endure the negative and celebrate the highlights of our furred and feathered friends. The farm is available for travel. We participate in many educational programs. FHF also opens the barn doors for birthday parties and other events. Feel free to visit our Fair Haven Farm facebook page. We hope to see you soon. Uummm... what is it?
Even though I've never been there, I recognize this as the memorial to the Pearl Harbor masacre.
All the pictures are great, but that last one is SOOOOOO GORGEOUS!
Thank you all so much. I was having so much trouble and frustration uploading the pics that to explain them would have been over the top. Yes, that is the Pearl Harbor Memorial.
This was such a solemn moment. There is a museum with artifacts, salvaged items, momentos from the past. It has an audio tour to guide you from exhibit to exhibit. War is so harsh. During the helicopter tour the pilot told us we were flying the same route the Japanese took. History really comes to life in that place. It is really a painful history. In the land of "hang loose" are the gripping reminders of a day that lives in infamy.
I bawled the entire time we were at the memorial and the worst part was having to share it with Japanese tourists. Now mind you, I lived in Japan and I love the people, but there was just something really wrong with being in the midst of a bunch of Japanese people while being reminded of what the Japanese, of long ago did in bombing our country. Glad you finally made it back home.
I felt the same way. I thought it was so strange to see our one time enemy there together at the same site.
I can't believe that the "cokelady" had no idea what this was, for SHAME. I guess History wasn't her best subject. It brought back a lot of memories seeing this again. I'm glad you made it home.
I admit, I am ashamed. I almost didn't ask about it for fear that it was something that I really should recognize. Believe it or not, I honestly wondered if it was related to Pearl Harbor, but was scared to ask for fear I'd sound dumb. HA! I guess I found dumb on both sides of this coin! ;-) Anyway, I'm glad to know what it is. I can see why it would be bothersome to visit this place along side Japanese people. I mean, why would THEY want to visit it?! Weird.
